Dr. Drachman graduated with honors (special distinction in physics) from Columbia College, and remained at the University for two more degrees. His Ph.D. research was in quantum field theory, under T. D. Lee. He then did research at the U. S. Naval Research Laboratory on the many-body problem in quantum mechanics. During part of this period he was a National Research Council Associate and also learned about nuclear weapons effects both theoretically and in the field. He then spent four years as Assistant Professor of Physics at Brandeis University, after which he returned to the Government here at Goddard.
