EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

B.S., Rutgers University, 1951
Ph.D., Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Physics), 1956

BRIEF BIO:

After M.I.T., Dr. Temkin was awarded a Fulbright fellowship in l956-57 to Univ.of Heidelberg, Germany. Thereafter he received an NRC/NAS Resident Research Associateship to the Naval Research Lab., '57,'58. He became a civil servant at the National Bureau of Standards (now NIST) 1958-60, and finally he joined NASA in 1960, where he has been ever since. He received a Goddard-Exceptional Performance Award in 1971.

RESEARCH INTEREST:

Atomic physics, with emphasis on long range problems and needs in astrophysics and aeronomy
